THE ESSENTIAL BUSINESS TOOLKIT
Having started my business back in 2012, it is safe to say I have used my fair share of resources, online tools, applications, programmes, softwares and implements many processes. Some I have had since day one and couldn’t imagine running my business without – some are more recent finds that have been GAMECHANGING in my business!
Many of these you may have already heard of, maybe you might even use them – some you may never heard of. But I encourage you to check them out and see if they can work for you and your business.
Some of these tools – I have mentioned in the descriptions, that are now fundamental to my business but really struggled initially to implement. You have to give them time, fully commit to them and try to integrate them into your business to establish if they will or won’t work for you and your business.
I hope you find this TOOLKIT useful, these are the ultimate tools and resources that I use day-to-day to help me run my business efficiently and in the best way that I can. Let me know which ones you already use and which ones you might try and integrate into your business.
Basically any Google service – I am totally in love with! Google Drive keeps me super organised with my files on the go. Available anytime whether I am working from my home office or in a different country! Easily accessible across my team, and also reassurance knowing that my files are backed up on an online space
Oh my goodness I am the BIGGEST fan of this amazing platform, and what is incredible is that it is free!
This is one of the tools I struggled to implement in my business – but this is by far the better platform and is the right arm to my business! Keeping my super organised and on track with my business tasks, editorial calendar, my team and progress on goals and projects.
One thing that makes me feel super in control of my business is knowing exactly what is going on with my finances. I have been using Quickbooks since 2015 and it makes the finance side of business enjoyable, easy and no stress. Being able to clearly see what is going on and making the tax process so easy was a no-brainer for me on why this was essential in my business.
For any photographers….this is AMAZING!!! Having tried most of the CRMs on the market, Studio Ninja kicked them all out of the park. A gamechanger in my business, my client conversion and increase in my business income and profits! I can’t recommend this software enough for client management, invoicing and workflow for my photography business.
Another one for photographers out there, Shootproof is the company I choose for my client galleries. It is so so easy to use, my clients rave about it, they can easily purchase prints and products through their, meaning less admin for me and quicker payments – basically a seamless process!
Oooo girl, Social Media and I have a love hate relationship…it’s true! But these two tools are becoming a big part of my life in terms of making me feel like I can show up confidently and organised, making sure I am showcasing my brand and business online in the best possible way. Planoly has been a top favourite for mine for the past couple of years – Tailwind is a more recent find but has made a HUGE difference in the growth of my Pinterest Account and traffic to my website.
It’s a new one to me – but ooooo I love it!!! My new email newsletter provider, just everything about this platform sings to me. Having signed up to a million and one email newsletters myself, and how many I don’t open now just because the emails are abit meh. But the ones I do, are beautifully designed, clear and easy to read, I get excited to open them! This is how I approach the emails I send myself – this is how I want you to feel when you receive one of my emails!
This one is maybe a little odd – but it really is a big part of my business toolkit, in terms of inspiration and learning. There isn’t a day that goes by when I don’t listen to a podcast, mostly when I am on my daily dog walk, or if I am going in the car to a shoot or a wedding when I have a bit longer to travel. Some of my favourites you can read in this post here but it is an amazing way to keep learning, being inspired by your favourites!
self care routine
2019 was a year I needed to look after myself a bit better – so insert self care routine! Now this doesn’t mean a face pack every night wrapped in a cosy robe whilst painting my nails – ha! I always thought self care was an indulgent time – but actually it is essential to my own wellbeing and being the best person I can be! So for me it involves eating well, exercising, getting plenty of sleep, spending time with people I love to spend my time with, getting up a little earlier before everyone else with a cup of tea and my journal, having a netflix binge every now and then!
