I hate being sick. When I worked in my corporate job in London, I was constantly coming down with colds! Mainly I think because I didn’t take great care of myself, constantly busy, late nights and early mornings, after work drinks, in an airconditioned office and just general stressing about life and feeling drained, burnout! When I left my job and started working for myself from home, I noticed my health massively improved. Maybe because I slowed down with the move away from London, focusing on myself and my business. I was sleeping better, had a clearer head and was so much better!
This past year has been a huge learning curve for me with learning more and more about my business, the types of clients I want to work with the work, what work I want to do going forward and really also trying to manage my diary.
As a wedding photographer, my primary work is carried out over the Spring/Summer/Autumn months and this is when it gets crazy busy for me with travelling, shooting weddings, full edit days and client management and that is all on top of running the business and the day to day things I need to run. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, I thrive of it – however when I notice my glands start to swollen or I am not feeling 100% I plough on through, up the anty on my Vit C intake, get plenty of sleep drink loads of water and do everything I possibly can to get past it and not to have some full blown cold. In the winter months is where I focus on more commercial work and other projects.
Unfortunately these past 2 weeks it has all caught up with me. I don’t like to complain, but it has meant some things haven’t gone according to plan for the start of the New Year. So this is just a reminder to myself and to anyone reading who notices they get sick often, or have been keeping the colds at bay – look after yourself, listen to your body – if it’s not right and you aren’t feeling well, just take it easy, don’t just try and work through it, as it will catch up with you at some point.
So the next couple of days will be posts of trips I had over the past year or so that I haven’t had the opportunity to share. And as of next week fresh imagery will be on its way to you, once I am back up and running, not surrounded by lemsip, tissues and olbas oil!
Much love, Charlotte x
