Okay it is safe to say I have been totally crap at properly going for this blogging shindig over here! My plan for this past year was to continue to build my photography business and on the side write a blog designed for female entrepreneurs to share my journey at building a service based business and build an online business as a resource and to inspire female entrepreneurs.
Well safe to say this year kicked me up the flipping arse and I wasn’t prepared mentally, or physically, for it was going to throw at me.
Okay, okay, that might sound super dramatic….but genuinely after reflecting on this year (and if I am honest last 18 months) this is how I have been feeling. Now I must say, it hasn’t been filled with just the bad, ugly and sad vibes – I am so so grateful for the good, busy, and happy times – but equally this has taken me away from doing the extra things (aka this blog/business/ the plan) that I have wanted to do for a couple of years, just because of the headspace that was taken up with other stuff.
This year has hit myself and my husband with a few personal matters which I won’t go into here but have made this year, in a way a year of major growth in a HUGE personal way. Sometimes it won’t all be pretty flowers and smiles, and sometimes it will. But I feel confident that this year has thrown moments my way, that before, I thought I would have dealt in a certain way, but definitely didn’t.
From a business side – I am beyond over the moon with how my photography business has grown this year and it’s funny that how in the moment you feel the grind isn’t actually working, but reflecting on it as a whole – not just the past year, even looking at the past 4 years since leaving my corporate job, I feel like it has all payed off.
Yes, there have been gaps in my marketing during my busiest time of year – and I haven’t been as consistent at posting on social media, but really that is just one aspect of running, growing, nurturing a business.
My business has grown through hard work of building my relationships with not only my clients but with suppliers, industry professionals, working hard on my website and SEO, creating a brand that is reflective of my work, that future clients can connect with, building a client experience and having great business processes in place to create a strong business.
Today is a Monday, I was out on a walk, I had a great, upbeat playlist playing in my ears – just feeling absolutely pumped, out in the fresh air, with my daily walk by the harbour, thinking about my business, reflecting on my business goals, just feeling so excited and like a massive change in the air. Sometimes, we just need to go through a personal struggle and take some time out, go through some stuff to then feel like your back to your normal self.
Today was exactly that. Today I am sat here, having had a super productive day, worked out I had reached a massive milestone and long term goal in my business, hit most of my goals I set at the start of this year and now feeling all the right vibes to start writing again and sharing this with you – here – today!
So if you are feeling like you are lost, maybe in a place where you are struggling in business and not hitting the goals you set out, maybe you’re not feeling 100% yourself, got some personal stuff going on and feeling stuck, just know that you will feel back to your normal self soon – it can take time, don’t be hard on yourself, just get back in your flow and it will come! I’m going to share over the coming blog posts how I have got past this myself, routines and practises I have in place and how I am going to get through that.
