I have a confession to make. I am a stationery, journal addict. It started way back when I used to work in a homeware store in my teens, we had a small section where we stocked journals, notebooks, planners from small ones to huge ones. I have always loved writing and it has always been on my mind that one day I would love to write a novel. So I used to buy notebooks most weeks, whenever new ones came into stock and basically this led to a collection on notebooks that I constantly have on a shelf in my office. A ridiculous large pile of beautiful notebooks and journals that are waiting to be filled.
So whilst I am not writing a novel by any means, I do write daily. A big lesson I have learnt on my entrepreneurial journey is documenting, or journaling as a daily practise can change the game entirely. Journaling daily is constantly being written about as one of the most powerful habit you can acquire and if you show up and do the work can make amazing changes and positive effects n every area of your life! Without a doubt, journaling has by far been the number one thing that has made a difference in the positive growth in my business.
I set aside time every morning whilst having a cup of tea to journal. Now I initially thought I am not a fan of this whole ‘Dear diary…’ writing, but it’s not like that at all. The amount of journals I have now filled, writing out ideas, brainstorming areas in my business where I can grow and develop and the action I need to take to get there. I also write about gratitude, my goals and dreams, the list is endless. I challenged myself earlier in the year to writing Morning Pages for a whole month and that really focused me into a routine of writing every morning.
I was recently contacted by a UK based, family run business called Central Crafts who are a bespoke handmade gift, album and journal seller and to say I was excited to receive their email was an under statement. Finding and making handmade, quality, ethically sourced products is really important to this Hertfordshire based company and the products definitely don’t disappoint.
With my love for journals, I have become a little bit fussy over the years, as there are so many journals and notebooks that look beautiful on the face of it, but are actually not great in quality. But when I received the Capri journal in the post, I was super excited, even for the way it was packaged and wrapped – oh my goodness! Super soft to touch, the superior quality Italian leather journal in Charcoal, is now up there as a favourite in my collection. The recycled leather range is really great quality. Central Crafts responsibly source their materials and have an ingenious tanning method which is kinder to the environment and ensures that the impact on the planet is kept to a minimum. Another reason why this company has become a favourite!
They also produce other beautiful products like photo albums. I have been searching high and low in stores and online for the perfect one.
In this day and age where we take pictures in a digital format, whether on a phone or on a camera, I find it so sad that the majority of the photos stay sat on our hardrives! As long as I can remember, my Dad has always had our family photographs developed printed and placed lovingly into a photo album. No matter how old the images are, how many times I have flicked through the albums, I still look through them to this day. There is something really special about printing your images and placing them into an album.
Husband and wife team behind Central Crafts have been working in the leather industry for generations, employing not only classic tanning techniques but also new ethical methods such as vegetable and organic tanning and working with various small independent producers in Asia and Europe they ship all over the world!
I absolutely love this matching journal and album, and will definitely be adding more to my collection.
Much love, Charlotte
I collaborated with Central Crafts on this blog post however all the views and imagery are entirely my own.
